There is NO limit to human STUPIDITY. We divided earth with arbitrary lines called longitude and latitude. Then we sent “24” expensive satellites in orbits, over 12,000 miles away from earth. And now, we ask these far-away satellites what is our distance from these human-created lines “on earth”. And our mobile devices keep on asking about the same “human-created numbers”, several hundred times, during the day. It is like making a long-distance phone call, across the globe, to China, to ask your house number, “while standing in front of your house”. And then, keep on making the same telephone call, “again & again” whenever you come in front of your house. INDEED, there is NO limit to human STUPIDITY.

1. Battery manufacturers
My patent includes a battery with an embedded “electronic circuitry” which knows the geolocation of the device. This thin-film electronic circuitry has MEMS motion-sensors (accelereometers, gyroscope) which keep on updating geolocation of the mobile device as it moves. You may call it a “smart battery” OR “location-enabled battery”. This is a very disruptive invention because every battery-operated device will become a smart, location-aware device. For example a “talking doll” toy will speak Chinese in China, French in France, and English in America, with out any reconfiguration. Moreover, cellular phones will save a lot of battery power because currently, they rely on GPS satellites which are 12000 miles up in the sky, and to get geolocation from GPS/GNSS/Beidou satellites is very power consuming process.
2. BLE beacon manufacturers
My invention has higher-level designs of several types of “location beacons”:
- (i) Vibration Energy harvesting BLE beacons which can be embedded on the road networks. Traffic on the road causes vibrations and the battery-less beacon emits geo-coordinates through BLE for use of traffic.
- (ii) RF energy harvesting location beacon (BLE). These can be placed at “fixed-locations” anywhere geolocation is required. NFC is the input method for geo-coordinates.in the the beacon. This location-beacon can have different form factors. Outside locations will need a rugged weather-proof hardware hile indoor use will require a form factor as simple as a thin-film microelectronic sticker.
3. Network Operators
My patent introduces the concept of “location as a service (LaaS) in which a “mesh network of on-ground beacons” is installed to provide accurate location information. This mesh network can use unlicensed spectrum, and can also be used to provide a “slow” high latency BUT more reliable/localized messaging service.
4. Governments
There are innumerable use-cases for Government in my patent. The reliable messaging service of the mesh network in embodiment 3, can be of vital use by first responders in emergency or disaster situation. Department of Transportation may use “Road-embedded beacons” in conjunction with “cat-eyes” or other physical markers. City governments can make it compulsory for buildings of certain size-range to have “location beacons” alongside their house number plate. City governments may even use the concept of “Location as a Service (Laas)”. Needless to mention Department of Defense and Autonomous Vehicle operators/manufacturers who often face GPS-denied or spoofed circumstances.
